About the CU Film Society

The Champaign-Urbana Film Society was formed in 2011 with the goal of providing opportunities for education in the cinematic arts to the residents of East Central Illinois.  While it has organized workshops and brought in screenings and speakers from outside the area, its largest and longest running project has been the Pens to Lens student screenwriting competition.

As of late 2016, the CU Film Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
