The Pens to Lens 2017 Gala will be held on Saturday, August 12th, once again at the beautiful Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign! Be sure to mark your calendars, and keep an eye out for the full lineup announcement in July.
In the meantime, we are still accepting student-made film submissions to the Pens to Lens Student Filmmaking Competition; the deadline is June 30th. For more information on the Student Filmmaking Competition, visit the link below!
Thank you to everyone who submitted! Over the next several weeks filmmakers will be poring over the scripts looking for potential selections, before moving into production this spring and summer. If your script is selected, you may be contacted by the filmmaker directly, or it may be an exciting surprise when all selected writers are notified and the full lineup is announced in July!
We are still accepting submissions to the Student Film Competition, however! If you have a student-produced short up to 10 minutes long, produced in the past year, you have until June 30th to send it in.
Join local filmmakers from the CU Film Society and Pens to Lens in this free, hour-long screenwriting workshop where you’ll learn the basics of storytelling and how to turn your story into a bonafide screenplay. Also, for those who haven’t begun their own script, we’ll help brainstorm story ideas and spend some time working in small groups to workshop individual scripts.
The workshop is geared toward K-8 students, but all students K-12 are welcome! The event is free and open to the public, and will take place in Robeson Pavilion Rooms A & B at the Champaign Public Library 11AM-12PM on Saturday, February 11th.
